Lens typesSingle vision lenses are prescribed for distance, intermediate (e.g. computer) or near visual correction.
Progressives are lenses with no lines. They provide a continuous, gradual change from distance to intermediate to near vision.
Bi-focals are lenses with a line, providing two fields of vision – generally distance and near, with, for example, no correction for the intermediate distance. The lenses are sectioned into two distinct parts. The top portion of the lens allows you to see distant objects whilst a section of the bottom portion allows viewing of near objects.
Back to top Base lens materialsAll of our lenses are scratch resistant. Anti-scratch layers dramatically reduce scratches for longer lasting clear vision.
Active
Active lenses are very popular. They are:
- lightweight – Active lenses are made from the lightest lens material available and are up to 27% lighter than ordinary plastic lenses making them more comfortable.
- safer – They’re 10 times more impact resistant than ordinary plastic lenses, significantly reducing the risk of eye injury. Plus, they have built in UV protection that screens out 99.9% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.
- thinner – A thinner design makes your Active lenses far less noticeable for a more natural look.

Hi-Index
Having a high to medium strength prescription no longer means you have to wear thick, heavy lenses. Hi-Index lenses are thinner and lighter in weight than standard lenses and are ideally suited to strong prescriptions. Most Hi-Index lenses provide 99.9% UV protection.
All of our Hi-Index lenses include Invisibles Ultra.
Plastic
Plastic lenses are more impact resistant and considerably lighter than glass lenses. UV protection and tinting can be added to these lenses.

Lens optionsAt OPSM you can upgrade your lenses with the latest in advanced optical technology.
Invisibles Ultra
Invisibles Ultra is the most technologically advanced anti-reflective lens created to date. It’s a special coating applied to the lens which resists dirt, water and smudges and is much easier to clean.
- anti-reflective – Invisibles Ultra reduces reflections by up to 80%, so you enjoy better vision and other people can see you more clearly.
- rain and smudge repellent – A special slippery coating on the lens surface enables dirt and grease to virtually slide off. Your lenses stay cleaner longer and are much easier to clean. What’s more, water droplets bead and slide off the lens surface so you’ll see better in the rain.

Tints
Tints colour the lens for indoor or outdoor wear. They’re primarily used for personal style or to enhance sight in certain conditions. Lenses can be tinted (coloured) to a wide range of colours and when combined with UV protection they screen out UV radiation.
Polished Edges
With high strength prescriptions or rimless frames the edge of the lens is visible. The frosted edge can be polished to provide a less visible look. Polished edges give the appearance of the lens being clearer and thinner.
Mirror
Mirrored lenses reflect light from the front surface of the lens. They help to reduce visible glare and can make sunglasses look more fashionable.

Special LensesTransitions (photochromatic) lenses
Transitions lenses adjust to different levels of light - they are clear when indoors and darken when exposed to ultraviolet light. Their changeable colour provides comfort from glare and UV protection in any light.
They’re an excellent choice for everyday lenses, but are not a substitute for sunglasses.
Access computer lenses
Access lenses are designed for computer users requiring near and intermediate focus. For example, wearers can see for reading or computer work and still see things in focus when they look across a room for up to a distance of 3m.
Access computer lenses allow near and intermediate focus.
Anti-fatigue lenses
Anti-fatigue lenses are advanced single vision lenses designed to relieve the symptoms of visual fatigue. Symptoms include eyes that sting and feel tight, headaches, eye strain and blurred vision during long periods of near or intermediate vision work such as computer use or reading.
Prescription sunglasses
Your eyes need protection from the sun, just like your skin. Not only do prescription sunglasses help you look good, they also allow you to comfortably see in the sun and protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
